Competent Person Service

All companies are required by law to appoint one or more competent persons to manage their health and safety. If you're a construction company or service provider seeking health and safety accreditation through CHAS, Safecontractor or similar schemes, their assessors will be asking you how you manage this aspect.

The Health and Safety Executive expect most organisations to appoint someone within their own company to do this…. www.hse.gov.uk/business/competent-advice.htm …but if you don't have the time, knowledge or the inclination to manage it yourself, we can help you out.

For you to designate us as your competent person, we need to have an understanding of what you do. Therefore, we will need to spend a few hours with you and we will then support you (by email or phone) with any queries you may have, let you know about changes to relevant legislation or official guidance that occur during the year and, if you want us to, we'll maintain and update your policy and procedures accordingly.

The basic service costs £40 to £70 per month, depending on the nature and size of your business. And if you want any further consultancy support, we'll provide it at a discounted rate.

We can even provide a fully 'outsourced' service, whereby we can manage the ongoing health and safety aspects of your business, either at your premises or from our own, depending on the nature of work required and what suits you best.

This then leaves you free to focus on other activities, knowing your health and safety is being managed properly.
